Fort Gilkicker – Historic Victorian Fort Transformed Through 3D Visualization
Fort Gilkicker, perched dramatically at the eastern end of Stokes Bay in Gosport, Hampshire, is one of the most remarkable examples of Victorian coastal defence architecture in the UK. Built between 1863 and 1871 as part of a series of forts intended to protect the anchorage at Spithead and the approaches to Portsmouth Harbour, the fort was designed with 22 gun emplacements and massive granite-faced casemates to house heavy artillery.
For nearly a century the fort stood as an active military installation. After being disarmed in 1956, it saw various uses including storage and signalling work, but fell into disrepair by the end of the 20th century. In July 2022 the site was sold to developers at auction, and planning permission has since been granted for conversion into 26 homes — with 22 in the former gun casemates and four larger apartments in the old barrack block. This careful restoration project seeks to honour the fort’s history while creating unique, luxury residential spaces with spectacular views over the Solent.
3D Modelling for Design, Communication & Client Engagement
This interactive 3D model of Fort Gilkicker shows the structure in rich detail and serves as a powerful tool for visualising the progress and transformation of the site through every stage of development.
3D models like this are invaluable for:
-
Estate agents & property marketing — offering immersive previews to prospective buyers and investors
-
Construction planning & coordination — helping teams visualise complex spatial relationships and project phasing
-
Client presentations — enabling stakeholders to understand design intent, scale, and context far better than photos or plans alone
-
Project documentation & time-lapse visualization — tracking changes from historic structure to finished residences
Whether it’s for heritage restoration, residential conversion, or commercial development, high-quality 3D models elevate how projects are communicated and experienced. They give viewers — from clients to contractors — a sense of place and progression that static images or 2D plans simply can’t match.

Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth, UK
This 360-degree drone video captures the Spinnaker Tower from 120 metres (around 400 ft), while the tower itself rises to 170 metres (approximately 558 ft) above Portsmouth Harbour. This contrast delivers a powerful sense of scale, clearly showing the tower’s height, structure and relationship with the surrounding city, coastline and developments. Viewers can explore the scene freely, gaining context and understanding that traditional photography and standard video cannot provide.
Using the latest 360-degree drone technology, released at the end of last year, I help construction companies, builders and estate agents present sites and properties with maximum impact. Reduce site visits, speed up decisions and make your projects stand out.

This 360-degree video captures St Mary Magdalene & St Denys Church, a historic landmark at the heart of Midhurst. Dating back over 800 years, the church reflects the town’s long history and character, standing alongside the River Rother within the South Downs National Park.
Midhurst is a traditional West Sussex market town known for its heritage, architecture and surrounding countryside, making it an ideal setting to demonstrate immersive visual storytelling.
Using terrestrial and aerial photography and video, including 360-degree capture, I create immersive content that allows viewers to explore places remotely, understand context and appreciate scale in a way traditional photography and video cannot.
